Powertrust collaborates with Microsoft to Deliver 270MW of Distributed Solar in Mexico and Brazil, Advancing Clean Energy and Community Impact

[Vancouver, BC] - November 24th 2025 - Powertrust, a leading energy procurement

platform for high impact renewables in emerging markets, today announced a landmark

agreement with Microsoft to support the deployment of 270 megawatts (MW) of new

distributed solar energy across Mexico and Brazil over the next four years.

This initiative will accelerate the clean energy transition in Latin America while delivering

significant community benefits to underserved regions. Through this collaboration,

Microsoft will purchase Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) generated by Powertrust’s

solar projects, supporting Microsoft’s commitment to become carbon negative by 2030

and aligns with its broader strategy to reduce Scope 3 emissions and invest in

sustainable, impactful energy solutions worldwide.

Empowering Communities Through Clean Energy

Beyond reducing carbon emissions, the Powertrust collaboration with Microsoft is

designed to deliver transformational benefits to local communities. The portfolio of solar

projects will serve areas with limited access to clean energy, and will deliver strong local

benefits such as:

• Enable energy bill savings to low-income households and community

organizations.

• Create local jobs and support workforce development through training programs

in solar installation and maintenance.

• Partner with local NGOs and community leaders to ensure inclusive project

development and long-term community engagement.

• Support education, healthcare, and infrastructure initiatives, amplifying the

social value of clean energy investments.

A Model for Climate-Aligned Corporate Procurement

“This collaboration with Microsoft is a powerful example of how corporate climate

leadership can go hand-in-hand with community empowerment,” said [Nick Fedorkiw],

CEO of Powertrust. “By investing in distributed solar in Mexico and Brazil, we’re not only

accelerating the clean energy transition, but also delivering tangible benefits to the people

who need it most.”
